The Company
Persephone was formed in 2007,
following on from a previous retail shoe outlet called Mary-Jayne Shoes.
Whereas the focus with Mary-Jayne was on classical elegance with a 1920s
vintage look, we found a huge demand for interesting and different
vintage-inspired shoes for brides and bridesmaids, so we decided to pursue this opportunity
by creating Persephone.

Persephone
Shop is in Cookham High Street, located in the

Cookham is a charming old-world village in the heart
of Buckinghamshire, on the Thames between Maidenhead and Marlow.
Cookham is the birthplace of Sir Stanley Spencer (1891-1959, renowned
British Artist and member of the Royal Academy. Spencer lived a
hundred yards down the road from us on the other side of the High Street.
If you visit us to sort out your wedding shoes, you might also be
interested in the Stanley Spencer Gallery, which is a small but
fascinating gallery devoted to the artist. |

Veya Seekis
Veya was a fashion designer in Sydney, Australia, before moving to the UK where
she broadened her love of fashion to include shoes. After much thought and
research she teamed up with her sister to design their favourite shoes,
and created a company to sell them. These days Veya specializes in
wedding shoes, which is how Persephone was born. |
